I blog often about dog rescue – sometimes telling stories and sometimes asking for help. Our rescue always needs help – especially foster pyrents. I’m getting ready to put a plea for help out again – but this time the plea is a different. The need is always urgent of course but this time the need has gone past that point. 2 pyrs were surrendered in a condition that I’m sure Jane and John had never seen before and they see all kinds of bad. These dogs were not surrendered close to Indiana. A request was put out across the nation for a great pyr rescue to take in Milo and Emma and no one responded. These dogs are so ill and mistreated most rescues can’t imagine taking them in because of the cost and amount of work they are going to need. Indianapolis Great Pyrenees Rescue has decided to take these dogs in. Knowing what I know about what they do I am not surprised. Jane and John do what they do out of the good of their hearts and love for dogs. They take in dogs who would be otherwise euthanized or left for dead (including my sweet Jojo who had advanced parvo and a 20% chance of living) and nurse them back to health and find them homes. And now they need money desperately to help offset the exorbitant medical costs that are going to be required to get Milo and Emma healthy, happy and ready for a new, happy home that they deserve unlike the hell they’ve had to endure for their lives to-date. Times are tough right now – I know that as much as anyone – but donate a latte or lunch out or pedicure or whatever this week to Milo and Emma – a little goes a long way – and it will feel good. The photos of Milo and Emma are beyond heartbreaking so know that before you click through to the link to see the rescue site, their photos and link to donate online. I sat here and cried for quite sometime after seeing the photos.
I post these posts and involve myself in dog rescue because dogs for me represent all that is right and good in a world were there is all sorts of wrong and loss of focus on what really matters.

Done, and done. I’ve seen some horrific things in rabbit rescue over the last 8 years, and am always amazed at the things people can do to animals. Helpless, always there to please, sweet animals. I just don’t get it… never will. I hope Milo and Emma make it safely to Indiana, and I look forward to healthier and happier times for them both.
Thank you so much Amanda on behalf of IGPR – Milo and Emma appreciate it I know – they are here and being taken care of
I just went to give and was soooo excited to see that they are 71% to goal! Keep us updated on their health because I see the pictures and can only hope the worst part is over, but really, it looks like their fight for survival has just started.

Wow. That is heart breaking. I can never understand why anyone would mistreat a poor defeseless animal like this. I adopted my dog from an abusive home. She lives a happy and spoiled life now. She’s the sweetest dog and it still angers me to know that anyone ever laid a hand on her.
Thanks to people like you for getting the word out on an all too important cause!
What a sad story. I contributed, and hope these dogs find an owner as good as you are to yours!
I kind of, sort of braced myself for the images, but there’s no way someone really could. It made me physically ill to see the state of those poor animals. I donated and wish I could do thousands, to ensure a good life and home for these guys.
